What Is URBANA?

URBANA is an annual fundraiser hosted by Dharma Developments where proceeds raised support community programs with the goal of preventing homelessness in Ottawa. Each year, the event's growing success is proof that URBANA is helping to reach and support the most vulnerable people in our society. Until URBANA is no longer needed, we count on you - to show what community spirit can achieve when we each take a step forward together.

Last year over $13,000 was raised at URBANA. Since its inception in 2005, URBANA has raised and donated more than $80,000 to local organizations. The overwhelming support from well respected members of Ottawa's business, social care and political communities demonstrates year after year that we have captured the minds and hearts of citizens in Ottawa. Like Dharma Developments, URBANA supporters want to improve the current affordable housing conditions in Ottawa.

This year, URBANA is helping Action Housing / Action-Logement, an Ottawa-based charitable organization that assists low-income individuals and families to find and maintain safe, affordable and adequate rental housing. The organization addresses housing issues on many levels from ensuring that people who are homeless or victims of domestic violence find emergency shelter, to finding longer term housing solutions on the private market or through subsidized housing. The group advocates on behalf of those who are facing evictions and represent tenants in legal situations. Thanks to Action Housing / Action-Logement’s prevention services, 86% of the vulnerably housed manage to keep their housing.

As the URBANA party evolves and grows each year, we continue to source the highest calibre of local artists who integrate their arts talent with cutting-edge performance.
