OTTAWA HOME BUILDER COMMITTED TO ENDING HOMELESSNESS

This year URBANA proceeds help to improve of the lives of homeless women in Ottawa

Ottawa, ON - Dharma Developments is hosting its 2nd Annual Gala Fundraising Event, URBANA,
on Friday, April 7, 2006, at the Government Conference Centre from 7-10 pm. The community of Ottawa was incredibly supportive of this initiative last year, helping URBANA to sell out at 300 tickets and to raise over $20,000 to support the prevention of homelessness in Ottawa.

This year’s proceeds from URBANA are supporting the national charity Raising the Roof, and locally to Cornerstone, a community organization committed to improving the lives of homeless women.

“This event is about the Ottawa community supporting fellow citizens in their time of need”, says Sue Garvey, Director of Cornerstone. “It's really exciting to see young companies like Dharma Developments with a sense of corporate citizenship put their energy into an event like URBANA to help prevent homelessness”.

Dharma Developments will continue to host URBANA annually, raising awareness in Ottawa and with the end goal of eliminating homelessness. In light of Ottawa's recent C+ Report Card on Homelessness issued annually by the Alliance to End Homelessness, URBANA is a timely event worthy of front and centre attention. “If we want to improve the quality of life for everyone in Ottawa, we cannot forget or dismiss certain people in our community in need of safe, affordable housing. We either move forward together, or we suffer together.” says VP of Dharma Developments, Katy Sinha. “Everyone needs a roof overhead”.

URBANA is set for Friday April 7th, 2006 from 7 - 10pm

Proceeds go to Cornerstone Women’s Housing and Raising the Roof. Charitable receipt will be issued by Raising the Roof.
