This year URBANA proceeds help to improve of the lives of homeless youth in Ottawa.
Ottawa, ON – Dharma Developments' 3rd Annual Gala Fundraising Event, URBANA, is set for Wednesday April 11th, 2007, at the National Gallery of Canada from 6-9pm. The evening includes a consciousness-raising streetwear fashion show, a live DJ set, sumptuous hors d'oeuvres, and 15 special pieces of art created by homeless youth at Youth Services Bureau for auction.
This year’s proceeds from URBANA will support Youth Services Bureau, an Ottawa-based program with the mandate of providing a safe, non-judgemental environment for youth with difficulties affecting their physical and emotional well-being and development. This event is about our community of Ottawa supporting our youth in times of crisis.
The streetwear fashion show is the mastermind of Urbana 2007 programming director Jordan Kent. Her knowledge of the support that youth receive at YSB is firsthand. In younger years, Kent has relied on the programs provided by YSB to help her find her way. She now works as a Youth Outreach mentor. She knows that “the impact can be tremendous in assisting youth to regain stability in their lives and to become self sufficient and empower themselves to create a healthier way of living.”
There are only 3 weeks remaining to get tickets (www.DharmaDevelopments.com/urbana). The business community is taking notice and getting involved. WestJet has graciously contributed the Grand Prize for the evening's raffle, along with other fabulous prizes from community supporters Michael Turner Bespoke, Uniglobe Premiere Travel & Intrawest Resorts, and Mary-Anne Gillespie of Keller Williams Realty. Corporate sponsors Gowlings LLP, Grandor Lumber, Direct Energy and Media partners Axionic Digital Media and Metro News have confirmed their support to help make this event another sell out success.
Dharma Developments hosts URBANA annually, raising awareness in Ottawa with the end goal of eliminating homelessness.
